Receiving ETH and ERC‑20 tokens on your BitBox02 requires that you always verify the receiving address on‑device before sending funds. This guide walks you through the prerequisites, the four verification steps in MyEtherWallet (MEW), and key troubleshooting tips to ensure your tokens land exactly where you expect. By following these recommendations, you’ll minimize the risk of sending to an incorrect address and keep your assets secure.

Prerequisites

  • A BitBox02 Multi Edition that’s been initialized and backed up via the BitBoxApp
  • The latest BitBoxApp installed on your computer
  • MyEtherWallet accessible in your browser (for best compatibility use Chrome or Brave; other browsers require BitBoxBridge)
  • When encountering connection errors, close the BitBoxApp completely and retry in MEW

Step‑by‑step guide

1. Display and copy your receiving address

Click the QR code icon in MEW to reveal your BitBox02’s Ethereum address, or click the copy‑to‑clipboard button.

2. Import or scan the address

In your sending app or wallet, paste the copied address or scan the displayed QR code.

3. Verify on your BitBox02

Return to MEW, click the small down‑arrow next to your address, and choose “view address on BitBox02.” Confirm that MEW is showing the same address as your device

4. Compare and confirm

Ensure the address in your sending app exactly matches the one shown on your BitBox02 screen. If they match, proceed with the transfer. If not, abort and contact support

Security tip

Always double‑check that you’re on the genuine MyEtherWallet URL (https://www.myetherwallet.com/) before entering any sensitive information

Token compatibility note

Through MEW, your BitBox02 can receive and interact with over 1,500 ERC‑20 tokens—so long as they’re on the Ethereum network. Remember that unsupported or exotic tokens may not display detailed information on‑device

Troubleshooting

  • if MEW fails to detect your BitBox02, ensure BitBoxBridge is installed (non‑Chrome browsers) and the BitBoxApp is closed
  • if the QR code doesn’t render, refresh the MEW page or try the MEW v5 interface at https://v5.myetherwallet.com/
